We were contacted by a new customer to transport a Siemens Definition CT scanner from UK to Spain, including delivery to site and first fix.
The equipment was to be delivered to a clinic close to the centre of Barcelona, once there it had to be transported into the building and lowered into position.
Planning started 6 months prior to delivery due to the specific requirements of the project. The entrance to the clinic was located on a one-way street which had to be closed for the duration of delivery. Applications for a road closure and permit to use a crane were submitted to the local authorities.
The examination room was located below ground level and the only way to deliver the CT scanner and all components was via an opening in the floor. A gantry was built around the opening and all items were lowered carefully with chain hoists.
